Borsdorf – Ev.-Luth. Diakonissenhaus

In 1896, Innere Mission Leipzig decided to found their own Deaconess Mother House in order to recruit permanent employees for welfare education. Many fields of work were added: Homes for factory girls, police assistance, Mitternachtsmission (midnight refuge), diaconal care for the poor, work with children etc. And military hospital services during the war.

1933: Our sisters took over tasks working with mentally handicapped people at the Katharinenhof Großhennersdorf.

1952: The state takes educational work away from institutions of the church. The focus of the work shifts to services for mentally handicapped children and women. This field of work is expanding. Today, our sisterhood lives in active retirement. They help each other and rely on outpatient care service.

The times for prayer have become more important again for the sisters in their community. Encircling the logo is the house motto: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebr. 13,8.
