Berlin – Foundation Lazarus-Diakonie Berlin

The Foundation "Lazarus-Diakonie Berlin" was founded on September 24, 2012, as direct successor of "Diakoniestiftung Lazarus Berlin". Founder of the new Berlin-based Foundation is the Hoffnungstaler Stiftung Lobetal, one of the four von Bodelschwinghschen Stiftungen Bethel.

The "Lazarus-Diakonie Berlin" Foundation builds on the tradition of the hospital "Lazarus Kranken- und Diakonissenhauses zu Berlin", founded in 1865 by Pastor Wilhelm Boegehold, which later became the "Diakoniestiftung Lazarus Berlin". Their services and facilities (nursing homes in Berlin, Bad Kösen and Waltersdorf / Zittau Mountains, apartments for senior citizens, schools and the Lazarus Hospice in Berlin) were merged with the Hoffnungstaler Stiftung Lobetal in 2012.

The "Lazarus-Diakonie Berlin" foundation focuses on religious and pastoral work. The new foundation comprises the Sisterhood of Deaconesses and the Diakoniegemeinschaft (diaconal community), the church community of the Lazarus institution and the Spiritual Center, which is being developed at the moment. It is a member of Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz and of the Kaiserswerth Association of German Deaconess Mother Houses.
