Gallneukirchen – Ev. Diakoniewerk

A look back into history reveals a turbulent and moving past. The diaconal work is based on the work and the faith of the Sisterhood of Deaconesses. The name changed from "Verein für Innere Mission" (Association for Inner Mission) to "Evangelische Diakonissenanstalt" (Protestant Deaconess Institution) and then to "Evangelisches Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen" (Protestant Diaconal Organization).

The mission remains the same however – The Charity of Jesus for people in social need. The Diakoniewerk draws from more than 140 years of experience in supporting and accompanying people.

As a diaconal enterprise, the Diakoniewerk is active in various sections of the social and health services in Austria and internationally. It develops contemporary offers for people with disabilities, old people and in the fields of health and education.

More than 3,800 employees contribute their professional competence and experience in about 200 facilities and a large number of additional offers. The Diakoniewerk is a member of Diakonie Austria, one of the five large welfare associations in Austria.
