Riehen – Kommunität Diakonissenhaus

The Kommunität Diakonissenhaus Riehen is a Protestant Community who are trying, as a community in life, faith and ministry, to create the living succession of Jesus Christ.The sisters spend their life in the rhythm of the times of prayer and work. The Community was founded in 1852 and wants to provide a sign of God's hope in the present age. The community is guided by the rules of the Benedictine Order.
The Deaconess House Riehen was founded together with a hospital by Christian Friedrich Spittler in the year 1852. In 1972, the hospital was sold to the City and closed in 2010.
