The Executive Committee of the Kaiserswerther Generalkonferenz has released the website www.kaiserswerther-generalkonferenz.org and specified planning details for an international symposium about diaconal corporate culture.

For their spring meeting on February 20 and 21, 2009, the Executive Committee of the Kaiserswerther Generalkonferenz (KGK) met in Dzi?gielów in southern Poland at the Deaconess Mother House Eben-Ezer. Part of the agenda was also the official release of the website www.kaiserswerther-generalkonferenz.org.

The web presence includes information about the history, the mission and the current operations of the association of more than 100 Deaconess Houses, diaconal communities and diaconal organizations from Europe, North and South America and Asia. Initially in German, all the information will soon be also available in English. Users can also subscribe to the electronic newsletters of the General Conference and of the Kaiserswerther Verband (KWV) free of charge.

The KGK Executive Committee specified details for the topic of the international symposium, which will take place from September 4 through 9, 2009 in Budapest under the motto "Between Mother House and Diakonie Enterprise". The goal of the Symposium is the pan-European discussion of aspects of a diaconal corporate culture based on the Kaiserswerth model. Invited are members of diaconal communities and diaconal sisterhoods and brotherhoods, but also interested employees from the institutions and organizations of the entire General Conference.

Pawel Anweiler, Bishop of the Diocese Bielsko-Biala of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland received the Executive Committee of the KGK for a discussion. Anweiler explained the current situation of Diakonia in Poland on the occasion of the 10 year anniversary of the foundation of Polish Diakonia (February 1999) and provided insight in the situation of protestant Christians in the Cieszyn region.

The fall meeting of the KGK Executive Committee will take place directly following the symposium in Budapest on September 7, 2009. The next spring meeting will be held in Brussels on February 25 and 26, 2010.
